About me

Hey, thanks for visiting my website. I'm Eduardo, a Software Engineer. In this website I publish my latest articles and the projects I created over the years.

I studied Software Engineering at the University of Vigo and learned to code because I wanted to build things. I love to create new projects and tools and get all the things working. Just like a LEGO toy, I see code as the blocks which allow me to create new things. I really enjoy when I automate something and starts working, removing work load from me or from the people I work with.

For professional related stuff, you can check my boring resume here.

You spin me right 'round, baby, right 'round like a record, baby, right 'round, 'round, 'round.

I also like to write things out of context.

*Sometimes I do it even if I don't want to.

What I'm doing

I'm actually working for Horse & Country as a senior lead developer. H&C can be described as the Netflix of horses. I'm actively writing at Neoguias, maintaining several projects and managing Kenodo.

Among my current interests are also BlockChain development and Live Streaming.

Random facts about me

Here are some happy, sad or weird facts about me:

  • I built my first website in 2004 with 80s aesthetics.
  • I love playing board games with my friends and roll D20s.
  • My favourte games are Thief, Mass Effect, Faster Than Light, Dishonored, X-COM and Half-Life.
  • I have a dog called Zar and before that one I had another one called Zar after the 1st gen Zar.

What I do on my free time

On my free time I like gaming, running, skating, playing board games with my friends and working on side project.

I love science fiction movies and series. My favourite series is Game of Thrones along with Breaking Bad. When talking about movies, I love Alien, Heat, Donnie Darko, The Great Scape, Blade Runner, Saving Private Ryan and an almost infinite list of movies. I can spend the afternoon watching classic WWII or western movies.

When playing games I live tactical games like X-COM or Faster Than Light, as well as immersive sims like Thief, with a special space for classic FPS like Doom, Half-Life and the more recent Dusk. I also like retro style games like Hotline Miami or Police Stories. I don't usually play MMO games, as they are quite time consuming. However you can find me playing PUBG or classic games like Quake Live or Age of Empires 2.

When playing board games, my favourites are Terraforming Mars, Xia: Legends of a Drift System, Catan, Frontier Wars, Corsairs and Marauders, Twilight Imperium and Gloomhaven.

When it comes to music, the list is very extensive to write it here, but I like almost all genres, from EDM to rock and metal. Some composers and bands I like are Smashed into Pieces, Eric Prydtz, Tangerine Dream, In Flames, The Cure, The Offspring, Eminem, Linkin Park, Tiësto and Hans Zimmer.

My hardware and tech gear

This is the PC I usually use for both working and gaming. I use a hardware switch connected to the hard drives so my gaming and working drives are perfertly divided, so I work without distractions and play without background tools:

  • Intel Core i9 10900K
  • MSI AMD RX 580 Graphics card
  • 1x Alienware AW2518H 240Hz FreeSync
  • 2x Lenovo G25-10 AW2518H 144Hz FreeSync
  • 2x 8GB PC-3600 RAM Modules
  • Kingston HyperX QuadCast Microphone
  • Razer Kiyo Webcam FullHD
  • Logitech Z906 Speakers
  • Turtle Beach Ear Force HPA2 Headphones

Here is a small list with some hardware component and gadgets I use:

  • PS Vita for gaming and emulation
  • PSP 1000 for gaming and emulation
  • Raspberry PI Zero connected to my TV
  • Nintendo Switch OLED
  • Mavic Mini 3 Pro
  • Steam Deck

Despite I actually don't use them too much, I also play some old glories on my XBOX 360, my PS2 and the Sega Master System.

I recently bought a Secret Lab Omega chair, and I can say it's the most comfortable chair I tried in my life.
