Border Run

Border Run

An endless runner on the CG-1: pick up tobacco cartons, drop them at the van before the police catch you, and dodge the trucks and cones on the way.

An endless runner on the road to the Spanish border, smuggling tobacco past the police with a trunk that gets slower the fuller it is. Free to play in the browser on itch.io, on desktop and mobile, and open source under the MIT licence.

Border Run

The run

You steer freely across the lanes of the CG-1, with no snapping to a grid, and pick up tobacco cartons as you go. The trunk holds eight, and past four the car gets slower. Cartons only count once they reach the van waiting in the top lane, at 150 metres each.

On the road

Police cars give chase for a while and then give up, and sometimes they crash and leave the wreck on the road. Trucks are slow but wide, traffic cones are everywhere, and the old men on the verge have an opinion about all of it. Every 2,500 metres the level goes up: more speed, more traffic, more police. One crash and the run is over.

How it is built

  • Pixel art on a 2D canvas with a fixed 60 Hz loop
  • Synthesised engine and effects, plus two synthwave chase themes, random or fixed from the settings
  • Spanish, Catalan and English, with drag-to-steer on mobile
  • React, TypeScript and Vite, with the game logic separated from rendering and covered by tests
  • Every GitHub release builds the itch.io zip, which is also what andorranos.com embeds
