RIPTIRE

RIPTIRE is a vehicular combat game about welding blades onto a car that should have been scrapped, driving it into the worst part of the map, and bringing back whatever is left of it.

The run

You bolt whatever the garage coughed up onto a dead man's car (side blades, spinning saws, a flamethrower if the run went well) point it at the bad part of the map, and see what folds first.

Fuel is the only currency that matters, and it only ever goes up. Everything out there wants yours; you want a body count.

Each run is the same six steps, and each lap drops you a little deeper in.

Why the junkers win

A carburetor, sheet metal and a steering wheel that does exactly what you say have no brain to hack, no update to brick them, and nothing that switches sides at 3 a.m.

Everything smarter than that quietly gives up when the streets go quiet. That is the whole argument the world makes, and the reason the car you are driving is the one nobody wanted.

The site

The promo site is part of the same job, and it is built on one rule: say less than you promise.

It is a single long scroll broken into files rather than sections (the place, what is out there, the old ones) each answering a little less than the one before. The job, the outfit, the territory, the wildlife and the nemeses get their own passes. The FAQ answers where does all this actually take place? with "next question".

Deliberately unhelpful, in a way meant to be read twice. It is the only honest way to advertise a game whose main mechanic is finding out the hard way.

Status

Currently in development. Not playable yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam and hear the engine catch before anyone else does.
