Translatorio
An AI translation API for text, HTML, Markdown, translation files and images that keeps placeholders, markup and personal data out of reach of the model.
Translatorio is an AI translation API. A site or an app sends it what it needs in another language (interface strings, a page of HTML, a Markdown document, a whole locale file, a picture with text in it) and gets back the translation, with everything that must not change exactly as it was.
What never reaches the model
Generic translation breaks software in the same places: a :name translated, a dropped, a tag lost, a customer's name sent to a third party. Translatorio takes placeholders (:name, , %s, {{ var }}), HTML tags, links and code out of the text before the model reads it and puts them back afterwards, and every answer says whether all of them came back (intact), so a broken string is never published without a warning.
Personal data is masked before anything is sent: names, emails, phone numbers and IDs become stable tokens and are restored in the translation.
Files, in their own shape
A whole translation file goes in and one file per language comes out, with the same keys and structure: JSON, PO, XLIFF, CSV, Android XML, iOS .strings, Markdown, HTML and plain text. en.json comes back as es.json.
What an organization keeps
Glossaries, for terms always translated the same way; corrections, which win over the model from then on; and a translation memory per organization, so a string translated before costs one credit. The memory holds the masked text, encrypted with the organization's own key, and an admin can empty it or switch it off. The history keeps what each call cost, never what it said.
For developers
The whole API is documented at translatorio.com/docs: text, files, images, batches, glossaries, corrections, webhooks and errors.
Official clients, each with its reference page and its repository:
- PHP: documentation and source on GitHub.
- Python: documentation and source on GitHub.
- JavaScript: documentation and source on GitHub.
- Laravel: Laratext fills every language file of an app from the terminal through Translatorio.
Every call is idempotent, so a retry is never charged twice, and a 402 is never retried. A call costs one credit plus the model's tokens, and the free plan gives 2,000 credits a month.
Status
In production since October 2026.
